HBO has always been the gold standard for prestige TV and Max continues that legacy. House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, and the entire HBO back catalog make this essential for anyone who cares about quality storytelling. The Warner Bros movie catalog is a nice bonus. The app has improved significantly since the HBO Max to Max rebrand โ€” it actually works reliably now. At $16.99/month for ad-free it is pricey, but the $9.99 ad tier is a solid compromise. I use the rotation strategy โ€” subscribe for 2-3 months when new seasons drop, then cancel.

  • Improved app stability
