My streaming rotation strategy saves me $40/month — here is how

I used to subscribe to 6 services year-round ($85/month). Now I keep 2-3 active at any time and rotate every 2-3 months based on what shows are releasing new seasons. Q1 I had Netflix + Max (new seasons of several shows I follow). Q2 I am switching to Disney+ bundle + Paramount+ for Star Trek and Marvel. By end of year I will have watched everything I wanted for about $45/month average instead of $85. The key is using Thrifty Streamer to track which shows are on which services so you know exactly when to subscribe and cancel. Anyone else doing something similar?

This is exactly what I do. The trick is to binge the shorter series (8-10 episodes) during a single month subscription. I also stack free trials strategically — Apple TV+ gives 3 months with any device purchase, and most services offer 7-day trials. Between rotations and trials, I estimate I save around $500/year compared to keeping everything active.

Great tip on the free trials. One thing I would add: set calendar reminders to cancel before auto-renewal. I have lost money forgetting to cancel after a free trial ends. Most services also let you cancel immediately and keep access until the billing period ends, so you can cancel the day you subscribe and still get the full month.
